There is no denying that the mismatched footwear trend breaks the rules in style. This FASHION have always been a thing, but trends can take some time to manifest in the mainstream, and it was only recently that more and more individual who is not a model or a celebrity has attempted to pull off this revolutionary look.

Possibly it had to do with the social impact of Carrie Bradshaw’s mismatched Louboutins.

2004: Tracy McGrady was rocking his third signature shoe, the Adidas T-Mac 3 in an All-Star Game - rated as one of the top popular pairs to have in that year. The sneakers feature a full slip-on design with a molded upper and rubber outsole and have been retroed numerous times in numerous styles and colorways. I believe that this is a PE or let's say is a MISMATCHED BY ME pair. The mythical sneakers were brought back just around 200 units and was sold exclusively at Packer Shoes.

Arguably one of Ronnie Fieg's favorite silhouettes to rework, the ASICS GEL-Lyte III has been appropriated 25 times by the KITH founder since 2007. 2019: The "What The" Air Jordan 5 happened - borrowing elements from eight different colorways. Sporting a red and yellow mismatch design, the sneaker features graphic linings from the Air Jordan 5 "Bel-Air” and “Laser,” reflective tongues from the “Laser” and “Green Bean," sole units from the "Bel-Air” and “Quai 54,” and a kanji character and medallion embroidery from the “Tokyo” and "Shanghai.”

August 2020: Sean Wotherspoon x Atmos x ASICS Gel-Lyte III 'Corduroy’ was released. This shoe is truly a statement on its own, as its side panels can attach and detach with velcro, making the sneaker quite customizable. This version of the Gel Lyte III features multicolored corduroy panels with its signature split tongue. ASICS' side stripes in Red and Yellow are removable completed with the atmos branding on the heel of the left shoe.

I think it is a fashion statement that oneself express his own personality. Even by just wearing a pair of jeans and plain shirt, one's sneakers define their outfit, let alone wearing mismatch sneakers.

There are released mismatched sneakers that I personally like, I have Jordan 1 Homage and is considered as a Mismatched sneaker. As far as personal mismatched sneakers, I have a couple of sneakers, in my collection, on top of my head.

I've always loved the idea of wearing mismatch sneakers. Back in middle school kids would always wear mismatch pairs of chucks whether it be the high top or the lows. I don't know there's just something about it. It's cool back then and still cool now ?

Depends on the release. If the kicks are clean and are executed perfectly then it's okay but I would still prefer 2 different colorway of kicks.

I saw people rocking 2 different J1s. I think it's a bold move. I could never do it myself personally but maybe someday I will but both sneakers should be very clean and simple for me to do it hehe. That's why I love Chucks so much because the sneaker is so simple and versatile at the same time. You can dress it up or dress down and can easily get away with it being mismatched! So yeah Chucks I can definitely pull off!

Yes why not! Actually i have one pair the NIKE SB DUNK What The PRod that pair on me is like super dope. The creativity of Paul Rodriguez on his SB Dunk is everything. I like how he incorporate the ideas and design which came from his past sb dunk collaboration with nike.

Mismatched kicks had been kinda trend recently for some- ranging from celebrities to athletes. I think it bore primary from the fact that streetwear had been decently accepted. Its ethos grew on luxury brands, as well. The aesthetic of street culture and boldness of its identity gave birth to the uniqueness that we have right now, including rocking "mismatched" sneakers.

Personally, it emphasizes attitude and personality. It is a personal identity, a statement of fashion and class. And anyone in anyway can rock it as long as they feel it themselves. As a personal perspective, I am more inclined to mismatch two different pairs having similar patterns rather than a released colorway. It gives me the fancy side of being creative rather than being forced to wear something.

The concept of mismatching a sneaker like what Nike does with their “What The” edition sneakers is kinda cool for me. I really like the mismatch concept on sneakers especially when there is a story behind the mismatch colors, details of each pair.
