What Is Birthday Depression? Why Some People Feel Sad On Their Birthdays Birthday depression, or the birthday blues, refers to feeling sad, apathetic, or disinterested in celebrating or thinking about your birthday. In addition to experiencing sadness, birthday depression can also include a sense of low energy or focusing on the past, including everything that you may or may not have accomplished so far. These feelings may arise in the days leading up to a person’s birthday, on the actual day, and for some time after as well. There could be several reasons why somebody may experience birthday depression. Other potential causes as to why someone may feel down around their birthday may include: Depression, Anxiety, Fear of getting old, History of family drama on birthdays during childhood “All of these and many other reasons can contribute to feeling sad during a birthday,” says Dr. Lira de la Rosa, who notes that all of these reasons are normal and valid as well.

Things You Need To Know Before Dating A Middle Child First thing’s first: Middle children are genuinely independent folks. If the truth be told, alone time is vital to existence. Their older sibling was way cooler than they were growing up, and didn’t exactly like them tagging along. The younger sibling was (as to be expected) being taken care of and preoccupying their parents, which taught them to entertain themselves and do things without asking for help. Try not to take it personally if they don’t want to spend every second of every day with you. They pride themselves in being unique. They’ve engaged themselves in finding ways to stand out and be set apart from their siblings for years. This also means they are hardworking and dedicated. They are extremely trusting, accepting, and easy-going. In fact, there is even a statistic that shows 80% of middle children never straying in a relationship. Middle children have extraordinary negotiating skills. Being in the middle taught them to be exactly that. Effortlessly navigating through conflict, landing on middle ground. Conflict is one thing they tend to stay away from. They are extremely understanding. Growing up with parents who are trying to disperse their time equally between three or more children, they have a keen sense of consideration when it comes to priorities. Likewise, constructing a flexible “go-with-the-flow” kind of partner. Making their partner happy is the ultimate goal, which isn’t necessarily always a good thing. They can be hard to read. Being the peacekeeper leaves them feeling conflicted at times. Sometimes even if you hurt their feelings, they’ll keep quiet about it in order to avoid disturbing the peace. Encourage them to open up and share their thoughts and feelings. They are excellent nurturers. They’ve babied their younger sibling for so long, it comes naturally. Never insult their siblings. Even though they may do some trash talking, do not chime in with your opinion. They might cut you. Middle children are marriage material. They prefer long-term relationships and being friends with their partner just as much as romantic. Furthermore, middle children report having more satisfaction in their sex lives than both oldest and youngest siblings, and are more adventurous in the bedroom.

The Most Important Factor in a Relationship Is Not Communication, But Respect What I can tell you is the #1 thing . . . is respect. It’s not sexual attraction, looks, shared goals, religion or lack of, nor is it love. There are times when you won’t feel love for your partner. But you never want to lose respect for your partner. Once you lose respect, you will never get it back.

I hope to meet someone comfortable in silence when words aren't needed, someone who'd sit beside me to share the weight of the world with when it becomes too much to bear. I really am hoping. That when my heartbeats are the ones to do the talking and my tears are to tell the stories no one wants to hear, someone's out there to listen. Not to sympathize, not to tell me everything's going to be okay or all the other crap we say to people just to make them feel better—no, I know that it's too much to ask for. But who I'm spending my wishes upon a shooting star for is someone who won't get tired when my heart won't stop weeping, someone who will always see the love in me even on the days when I'm not very lovable. They say the world isn't a wish-granting factory, but one can dream. -Poetry hugot for the week. para maiba.

What are the common relationship challenges? Every relationship comes with its own set of challenges and needs constant work from the partners to “make the Relation-Ship stay afloat”. Before you can begin working on your relationship it is important to analyze what’s going wrong, what could be probable challenges to affect your relationship, and find out how to fix those issues based on what you’ve learned. If the challenge is too hard for you to overcome, don’t worry. Taking assistance from a relationship therapist or going for an online save my marriage course can help you in working in the right direction.

For our Philippine GetNice users! IYKYK! What do you remember most from your college life? Is it your thesis? Or have you already pushed that traumatic experience back to the recesses of your mind? Joking aside, the old adage does say that learning takes place not only in classrooms, but out there in the real world, too. Which, if you really squint with us a bit here, means you must have learned a lot from your drinking binges, all-nighters, and of course, your past relationships. To help you remember all the things you learned, we round up a couple of hotspots from universities around the Metro for breaking up and er, hooking up. In no way does SPOT.ph condone these forms of learning, but who can deny this is a much more entertaining—and way less credible and value-adding—study compared to your thesis? We got all this insider info by asking former students of the “Big 4” Universities for the most commonly known spots—not necessarily based on their own experience, some pointed out—on their respective campuses. If you’re feeling #attacked though, you can spill about the known go-to areas in your universities down below! We weren't about to list them all down; we're not that crazy. These hotspots are ranked based on these factors: first, how “multi-purpose” the area is, meaning plus points if you can use it for both functions; second, how much privacy the area offers; third, how cinematic the place is (you need the right ambience); and last, how close the nearest inuman spot is, just in case. “Hookup” here is loosely defined from varying degrees of landian to “please, please practice safe sex” levels and, in an effort to be more inclusive, “breakup” also covers those who were never really official to begin with—don’t worry, we’ve all been there. Here are the top 5 infamous university hookup-slash-breakup spots in the Metro: 1. Sunken Garden - University of the Philippines - Diliman 2. 2/F Razon Sports Center - De La Salle University - Manila 3. Ateneo de Manila University Parking Lots 4. Lagoon Area - University of the Philippines - Diliman 5.Henry Sy Grounds - De La Salle University - Manila

According to the dictionary, love is "an intense feeling of deep affection." Meanwhile, Urban Dictionary defines love as, "The act of caring and giving to someone else. Having someone's best interest and wellbeing as a priority in your life. To truly love is a very selfless act."

Mutual respect is a very simple concept. It means that you treat your spouse or partner in a thoughtful and courteous way. It means that you avoid treating each other in rude and disrespectful ways, e.g., you do not engage in name calling, and do not insult or demean your spouse or partner

Are we too into our phones that we tend to forget what really matters? Food for thought mga ka-GetNice Retrenchment and Reconfiguration: The Cellular Phone "Without my cell phone my emotional life would be in ruins." - Sarah, from Willow Grove, PA The erosion of face-to-face community, a coherent and centered sense of self, moral bearings, depth of relationship, and the uprooting of meaning from material context: such are the repercussions of absent presence. Such are the results of the development and proliferation of our major communication technologies of the past century. Yet, curiously enough the telephone was not included in the preceding discussion of absent presence.
