First look at the official images of the AJ1 High OG 'First in Flight' (These are pretty solid! 🔥) A play on North Carolina’s history in flight — referencing both Michael Jordan and the Wright brothers. The state of North Carolina is one known for flight, as it famously hosted the Wright brothers’ first successful flight on December 17, 1903 in the small town of Kitty Hawk. Though it is also tied to another high-flying icon — Michael Jordan. Mr. Jumpman himself grew up in North Carolina and went on to attend the University of North Carolina (UNC), a chapter in his life that Jordan Brand often pays homage to. Now, the latest celebration of Jordan’s history is the latest drop Air Jordan 1 High OG “First in Flight. Sporting UNC’s iconic white and blue, the pair also features hits of navy and yellow. A textured leather appears at the white base while the aforementioned UNC blue hits the Swooshes, mudguard, eye stays and the base of the collar. Elsewhere, navy appears at the collar overlay and heel counter while a golden yellow enlivens the collar’s Wings logo. Its navy tongue tag rounds things out by featuring special “First in Flight” text that calls out the theme.

Jordan Brand to Celebrate Valentine's Day With the Air Jordan 3 Next Year: The latest Jumpman-related rumor is pointing towards a festive pink colorway of the hit silhouette. To put it simply, 2024 is a major year for the Air Jordan 3. While Jordan Brand has kept it in steady rotation over the years, there are many heavy hitters on the way. Beyond the second release of Nina Chanel Abney’s pair taking place this week, A Ma Maniére has its two pairs on the way and the return of the OG “Black Cement” is scheduled to take place as well. To top it all off, the rumor mill has been busy with hints as to what we can expect next year, including a “Lucky Shorts”-themed pair and a new “Diffused Blue” iteration. Adding to the list of AJ3 releases to keep an eye out for, zSneakerHeadz and Sneaker Files are back with a new report, indicating that the silhouette will be celebrating Valentine’s Day next year with a special “Washed Coral,” “Gym Red” and “Sail” color composition that is depicted via mock-up above.

Pharrell Reveals Ultra-Sized adidas Superstar 92 The padded silhouette is joined by two other models inspired by ’70s and ’80s style codes. At the Paris UNESCO headquarters on Tuesday, Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2025 menswear collection was not the only thing Pharrell unveiled; the fashion polymath also debuted his latest collaboration with adidas: a trio of Superstar sneakers. Leading the pack is the Superstar 92 (also called the “Double Wide”), which pumps up the flagship model with a supersized agenda. With ample cushioning, the shoe takes after the exaggerated proportions of skate sneakers and ski boots from the ’90s, per the brand. Notably, Pharrell first teased the statement silhouette in April, when he appeared alongside BLACKPINK’s Rosé at Tiffany’s Wonder exhibition in Tokyo in April; and he later dropped hints about the remainder of the collab via his @skateboard Instagram account. The 92 model is joined by the 72 and 82 silhouettes—both of which were seen on P’s pals throughout Paris Fashion Week. The former model toys with the athletic style tropes of the ’70s, while the latter design boasts a more sophisticated facade from the ’80s. “We created three Superstars for a reason,” Pharrell said in a statement. “We’ve moved beyond the impossible task of creating one thing for everyone. Instead, we pulled inspiration from the decades to offer three unique designs from the low-profile running look of the ’70s, the tailored elegance of the ’80s, to the bold design language of the ’90s. We wanted to give the world an option to find a Superstar that resonates with their unique self.” It’s presently unknown when Pharrell’s next adidas Superstars will launch. Take a look at the designs in the gallery above, and stay tuned to Hypebeast for more information.

Kanye West x Nike is finally here! This is the first time I've seen the real thing! Each of Kanye West's album covers can be called a work of art. Recently, an overseas customizer brought a pair of new color Dunk Low inspired by the album cover "Graduation". This cover was designed by artist Takashi Murakami, with a flat design, bright colors and seemingly childish cartoon characters. If you are familiar with Murakami's works, it is not difficult to see that he was the one who designed the cover of "Graduation". Back to this pair of customized shoes, no matter the color matching or the details, they must be used to the greatest extent possible. The dopamine color tone presented as a whole still has a good sense of fashion today. In fact, a long time ago, some netizens designed multiple pairs of Yeezy Boost 700 inspired by Kanye West's album.

Behind the HYPE: How the Air Jordan 1 Changed the Sneaker Game Soaring from hardwood battles to Tokyo’s trendsetting streets and the grit of skate culture, the Air Jordan 1 remains a timeless icon. The Air Jordan 1, a cultural phenomenon instantly recognizable by its iconic colorways like “The Chicago,” “The Bred,” and “The Royal,” wasn’t just a sneaker; it was a revolution. Debuting in 1985, the brainchild of designer Peter Moore, the Air Jordan 1 marked a pivotal moment in sneaker history. In this Behind the HYPE episode, we explore the AJ1’s rise to fame and its continuing impact on sports and global pop culture. This high-top marvel broke the mold with its premium leather construction and audacious designs. It wasn’t long before the Air Jordan 1 became a symbol of not just basketball prowess, but of individuality and defiance. The story took a legendary turn when the NBA, with its uniform restrictions, famously banned the black and red colorway. This controversy, however, only fueled the fire. With all eyes on Nike and the young star Michael Jordan, the ban became a marketing coup, solidifying the Air Jordan 1’s place in sneaker lore. As the Air Jordan 1 celebrates its 40th anniversary, its cultural significance remains undeniable. High-profile collabs with the likes of Virgil Abloh and brands like Dior have ensured the sneaker’s continued relevance in the ever-evolving fashion world. From its rebellious beginnings on the court to its reign on the streets, the Air Jordan 1 stands alongside titans like the Chuck Taylor All-Star and the Adidas Stan Smith as a symbol of innovation and enduring style. It continues to inspire generations of sneaker enthusiasts worldwide, solidifying its place as a cultural icon.

Batman Air Jordans? Michael Keaton Still Has Them The one-time Batman wore custom Air Jordan 6s and Nike Air Trainer 3s in costume. The special Air Jordans that Michael Keaton wore in the Batman movies are up there among the most coveted costume sneakers of all time. Nike designer Tinker Hatfield, who also made the famous Nike Mag sneakers for Back to the Future Part II, did Keaton’s footwear for the movies, outfitting him in custom versions of the Air Jordan 6, for Batman in 1989, and the Nike Air Trainer 3, for Batman Returns in 1992. Those super rare sneakers occasionally find their way to the secondary market, but Bruce Wayne himself is still holding onto at least one pair. In an interview on Cam Heyward’s Not Just Football podcast last week, Keaton said that he still has the Jordan 6s tucked away.

Jordan Brand’s "Reimagined" series is moving forward with another exciting release, the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Black Toe Reimagined," marking the third in the series following the "Lost & Found" and "Royal Reimagined" editions. This latest iteration pays homage to a specific pair worn by Michael Jordan during his rookie season in 1984-85. Although the exact game remains a mystery, these shoes are significant due to Jordan's personal touch: he autographed and gifted them to a close friend. The left shoe proudly displays MJ’s signature with the inscription “My Very Best – Michael Jordan,” while the right shoe carries a heartfelt message, “My Very Best – To Brother – Love Always, Michael Jordan #23.” This blend of history and personal sentiment makes the Air Jordan 1 High OG "Black Toe Reimagined" a must-have for collectors and fans alike as we enter 2024.
