Social Status, the sneaker and streetwear retailer founded by James Whitner is releasing a Nike Dunk sneaker collaboration called the “Free Lunch” on September 10.
The brown “Chocolate Milk” edition of the Nike Dunk innovated and designed by Whitner was originally scheduled to drop last September 4th, will now be released on September 10th at 11:00 a.m. EST with the pink “Strawberry Milk” pair is set to be released on September 18th. SNKRS and Nike are scheduled to have the shoes at a later date and the original drop will be through Social Status’ website and in-store locations.
This collab comes packaged in a special box and wrapping paper that features mazes and other activities for kids.
Social Status and Nike are teaming up this Fall as the duo initiates a an offering of the Nike Dunk. The offerings take inspiration from the free lunch programs provided by public school programs during the summer months.
One pair comes dressed in “Light Soft Pink/Coconut Milk-Pink Glaze”
while the other sports a “Canvas/Mid Soft Pink-Burnt Brown” makeup representing both Strawberry and Chocolate flavors.
Both look like their low-top counterparts to near exact specifications. Suedes, leathers, and much softer textiles run throughout the structure, colored in a fashion matching to the aforementioned. Branding-wise, the Swoosh and tongue label still bear a GEL and Tyvek finish, though the text along the medial heel is far less brief. Instead, it displays a much larger ingredients list that is as follows: “Nike Sportswear, Social Status, Milky TPU Gel Swoosh, YY Velvet, Diffuse Nubuck, Microbial Textile Lining, Tyvek Label, Round Twisted Poly Laces.”
