The sneaker community was placed in a state of turmoil again
after a long slumber because of the post of a sneakerhead named Raymond
Faminial who claims that he was sold a Fake Travis x Fragment from a seller
named Gian Carlo Pe. The buyer claims that he bought the pair last October 12 for
the amount of 60,000 Philippine pesos. The seller said the reason he is selling
the pair is for his grandfather who got hospitalized. Mr Faminial though very
reluctant bought the pair since he already purchased a pair from the seller in
the past. Seller claimed the pair is legit and even boast that it has a Jordan manila
receipt and everything checks out in paper. But not all transactions end in
happy ending. Let us expand to what transpired.
Upon receiving the Pair, Red flags started showing up. He unboxed
the pair and closely examined it. The shoe shows signs of usage but Mr Pe
claimed its brand-new. The buyer however disregarded it and just asked for the
receipt however the seller was not able to provide. He then started to ask his
friends for their opinion about the shoe and all of them said it looks off. To
further strengthen his claim about the authenticity status of the pair. He
tried to use SNKRSGRAM and CheckCheck app in which both platforms show it was
fake.
To be fair with the seller, He returned the money right away and accommodated the
buyer accordingly. He even returned more than what the buyer paid. So, from 60,000
the buyer received 75,000 which is 15,000 more than was purchased. He also
claims that he is also a victim of the ordeal from another bigtime reseller in
which he will not name. At first it sounds off that the seller was asking
additional 15k but upon reading the conversation. The seller did mention he is
willing to refund the money twice the paid amount which is 60k if the pair was
proven fake. That is pretty much just right to be honest with both parties.
So, what have we learned from this experience?
1.If it is too good to be true most likely it is not true- A
sneaker on sale for a steal price should raise a red flag unless you are
comfortable with a proven seller.
2.Always vouch the seller-Though this has been abused as the
seller asks friends to vouch for him but it will not hurt to try specially if
we are talking about huge amount of money.
3.Maximize Legit check Platforms- Snkrsgram is a good
platform to legit check pairs and it is made by Filipinos for FREE. You can
also use CheckCheck app but you have to pay them a fee. Maximize all the
platforms as much as possible.
4.Communicate with the seller- Don’t burn bridges and work
with the seller as much as possible
