Charlotte Lee was again called to design an all-new silhouette for New Balance. This designer was behind the stellar work on the moderately new 237 and 327. Lee has hit another successful achievement with the upcoming XC-72.
Comparable to the 237 and 327 models, the sneaker greatly references '70s running
footwear, highlighting a nylon upper with abundant suede panels.
The heel clip and outsole draw immediate attention to the shape, rubberized build, while the latter has a standout tread pattern that ranges up onto the toe.
XC-72 is scheduled to release this fall for a retail price of $130. NB collaborator Casablanca gave us our initial look at the sneaker in its FW21 collection. Paris-Based Casablanca unveiled the New Balance 327 at Paris Fashion Week last year 2020 (Images By Highsnobiety Sneaker) and have continued with the XC72 this year.
The XC72 was designed by Lee and features an exaggerated 1970s-inspired aesthetic. The outsole, which was prolonged across the heel on the 327, is yet again an essential feature of the XC72, introducing two different types of treads, separated down the middle.
