Japeth Aguilar out of Gilas due to COVID-19 Barangay Ginebra San Miguel Kings forward Japeth Aguilar has been ruled out for Gilas Pilipinas in the fourth window of the 2023 FIBA World Cup Asian Qualifiers due to COVID-19. In a tweet by his wife Cassandra, she said that she, along with Aguilar and their child, were all in isolation after contracting the virus. Aguilar added to the long list of deletions from the 24-man Gilas Pilipinas roster initially put out by head coach Chot Reyes. June Mar Fajardo and Jaymar Perez were ruled out with the San Miguel Beermen reaching the 2022 PBA Philippine Cup finals. Magnolia Chicken Timplados Hotshots’ Ian Sangalang has reportedly begged off while Jiovani Jalalon was nursing an injury from the semifinals. Yet to appear were Meralco Bolts’ Raymond Almazan and Allein Maliksi, NorthPort Batang Pier’s Robert Bolick, DLSU’s Kevin Quiambao and UP’s Carl Tamayo.
