First LookNike Dunk Low “Setsuban” As we approach the annual Spring festivals, footsites have been inundated with celebratory releases. the latest being this brand-new Nike Nike Dunk Low “Setsuban” — the second demon-riddled release for the festival to appear today. Otherwise known as the bean-throwing festival, Setsubun literally translates to “Seasonal Division,” referring to its celebration on the final day of Winter. It’s here where the Nike set in their newest Dunk’s theme, centered around a seasonal illustration by Utagawa Kuniyoshi, pictured below. In it, Kintoki is fighting off demons, which according to traditional Japanese beliefs, appear with the changing of the seasons. To fend them off, people throw dry soybeans at them, yelling “Demon out, fortune inside”.
