Winter is not normally a season for sneakers, but through countless winterized retoolings, footwear brands have blessed us (and their bottom lines) with year-round heats for our feets. Taking that quite literally is Nike’s impending “Toasty” collection that insulates our favorite silhouettes. Having already previewed a handful of Air Force 1s, the collection now hones in on the Swoosh’s in-vogue silhouette, with the Nike Dunk Low “Toasty” the latest to appear.
Forming part of a wider warm and cozy collection, this insulated Dunlk Low doubles up as part of Nike’s Move to Zero campaign, with recycled pieces rife through the pair, including at the sole unit, Swoosh, and overlays. The upper panels all arrive in quilted nylon, again housing comforter-like heat-retaining properties. Plush fleece liners and insoles which showcase the trademarked “Toasty” tag are the most obvious callouts to the sneaker’s toe-warming attributes, while the external tags that channel traditionally insulated outwear add to the aestetic. The pair is then completed by the Swoosh’s repurposed Move to Zero Pinwheel logo at the tongue, and 3D-stitched Swooshes in the rear.
