Since 2016, Musk has been promising fully autonomous Tesla cars, even saying in 2019 that soon, drivers wouldn't need to focus on the road. This year, he claimed Tesla is close to achieving full self-driving without human supervision and expects fully autonomous vehicles by year-end. Tesla isn't alone in the robotaxi race—General Motors' Cruise launched a self-driving rideshare in California last year, and Waymo is operating in Phoenix, San Francisco, and LA. 🚗🤖
