Gilas Pilipinas outplays host Jordan
The Philippines leaned on a strong second half along with a solid team defense to subdue host Jordan, 74-66, in the 2023 Fiba World Cup Asian Qualifiers early Friday morning (Manila time) at the Prince Hamza Hall in Amman.
Young slotman Kai Sotto provided the much-needed inside presence after scattering 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting from the floor, along with seven rebounds, two assists and the same number of blocks for Gilas Pilipinas.
His intimidating 7-foot-2 size played a big factor for the Filipinos, who held the Jordanians to just 10 points in the critical third quarter.

While Gilas was bullish on defense in the third canto, the national squad also unleashed 21 points to take a 58-51 lead heading into the final period.
The 20-year-old Adelaide 36ers slotman, banged in 10 points in the final quarter, helping Gilas stretch its lead to 71-58 after trailing by four at halftime.
